Shannon K. Yockey, LCSW, CST, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Shannon is a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of clinical experience working with children, teens and families in mental health agencies, church communities, overseas military, and in private practice. She works with teens and adults utilizing a variety of counseling methods including Depth oriented psychotherapy, EMDR, Sandplay therapy, and mindfulness practices. Her passion is connecting others to their own individual meaning and purpose in life. She recognizes painful experiences and challenges in life can keep one from developing their inner potential and fulfilling personal dreams and goals.

Shannon works with individuals developing a compassionate and effective treatment path to both relieve and find meaning in times of suffering. Short term therapy can be very effective at alleviating painful symptoms that may cause depression and anxiety. There are usually deeper underlying causes to our problems and painful patterns which are often rooted in early life experiences. In this case a more depth oriented approach can be helpful.

Shannon has extensive training in Jungian Sandplay therapy including study abroad in Germany and Italy. She is a certified Sandplay therapist and has served on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Sandplay Therapy Association since 2010. She has presented at national conferences focused on integrating Sandplay Therapy and EMDR. She is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and a Certified EMDR Therapist. Shannon is a facilitator for Parenting with Love and Logic and also trainer of facilitators in the Stewards of Children curriculum educating adults in the prevention of child and teen sexual abuse.

Her areas of specialty include: Early trauma and attachment, emotional difficulties, anxiety, depression, phobias, medical trauma, life transitions, grief and loss, childhood trauma, parenting and improving family relationships. Shannon also provides personal sand process and consultation for professionals.
